Junior training group of NBA Cleverland Cavaliers visits Lanzhou University

On the morning of September 11st, the NBA adolescents basketball training activity, co-launched by Lznzhou University(LZU), Association of Volunteers for Rural Teachers training of Gansu Province, FUTURE SIFANG, and NBA Cleverland Cavaliers club, was held in the new gym of Chengguan campus. Jessica Davis and Jonathan White, the junior training coaches, Seth Roberts, the junior training manager, as well as Xia Tian and Wu Qiong, the general-managers of the international department, visited LZU together. This was the first time for the Cavaliers to visit China, and the first time for the high-ranking figures of NBA to come to Gansu province to engage in exchange events.

This activity, as the first case of NBA teams visiting the universities in Western China, is a valuable learning opportunity for all faculty and students as well as basketball lovers, and it will promote the sports of LZU to a new stage. We’d like to take this opportunity to open a new door for LZU to deepen exchange with the world-class sports teams such as NBA, thus boosting the common development.

After the dynamic basketball performance played by 100 basketball lovers, there was a friendly competition between Jonathan White and two basketball lovers. Li Gengxiang, former member of the LZU basketball team, said that it was quite exciting to exchange with the world-class basketball player, and the competition also enabled him to understand the importance of the fighting spirit and perseverance.

After the energetic performance of basketball babies, the martial art team of LZU, led by Han Wencong, the world champion and the Asian Games Champion  and Wu Zhaohua, the Asian Games (Jakarta) champion, demonstrated a martial feast to the audience present. Later, Jonathan White and Jessica Davis led two teams of female basketball lovers respectively to play a thirty-minute game.
