Dr. Scratchley from Simon Fraser University visits Lanzhou University

From June 29th to July 4th, Dr. William Craig Scratchley from Simon Fraser University visited Lanzhou University.

Dr. Scratchley has been the first non-Chinese foreign expert to visit LZU since the school planned to sign an intentional work agreement in Canada and the United States from April. This time, Dr. Scratchley came to deliberate on matters of work and cooperation with LZU based on pre-communication.

On the afternoon of July 1st , school party secretaryYuan Zhanting met with Dr. Scratchley in the VIP room of the Science Museum. Yuan welcomed Dr. Scratchley and hoped that he would make full use of his rich teaching experience in data programming and engineering ethics to strengthen the program of data science cooperation and English course construction of information engineering majors; he would make the most of its experience in engineering practice and student training to enhance the talent training level of the School of Information in engineering masters and new engineering disciplines; he would take full advantage of its rich practical experience in project commitment and product standards to improve the "double creation"(to be entrepreneur and  innovator) level of relevant disciplines in the school, cooperate in the joint application of horizontal issues, joint training and guidance of graduate students, and work with large enterprises in production, education and research.

From July 2nd to 4th, the International Office, the Personnel Office, and the School of Information conducted an in-depth study on the work of Dr.Scratchley. Subsequently, Dr. Scratchley signed a cooperation agreement with LZU, in which he was planned to teach engineering ethics, data science programming, computer programming and other courses in the fall semester of 2018, and gradually deepen cooperation in these fields.
