LZU student to go to Arctic Pole

 

On November 2nd, the Fifth National College Students Marine Knowledge Contest Finals on TV, jointly organized by the State Oceanic Administration, the Ministry of Education, the Youth League Central Committee, and Navy Political Department, was held in Xiamen. Lanzhou University was awarded the first prize of group items in the contest as its total score was ranked second in group. Pan Naiqing and Cai Jiao from the Scool of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Hou Jiang from the School of Life Sciences were all awarded the first prize of personal items, especially Hou Jiang won the “Arctic Special Award”, one of the two great awards and he will go to the Arctic Pole to participate in scientific research with Chinese Arctic Expedition.

With "Learning Marine Knowledge to Maintain the Marine Rights" as the theme, the contest, 45 universities competed in six cities, namely Lanzhou, Harbin, Weihai, Zhuhai, Wuhan, and Nanjing. After competation, the No. 1 univeristies of each city for the finals were six teams from Lanzhou University, Harbin Engineering University, Ocean University of China, Xiamen University, Central China Normal University, and Zhejiang University. In addition, tens of thousands of college students took the contest on the internet, and six winners made up two teams to the finals.
