On the morning of Nov. 28, Gansu Provincial Chemical Catalytic Engineering Laboratory was grandly inaugurated in the lecture hall of the Second Chemistry Building, hosted by Zhang Yuejin, secretary of the CPC committee of the school. Present the ceremony were Tu Yongqiang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Li Hengbin, deputy party secretary of the CPC committee at LZU,Xu Shengyun, director of Hi-tech Industry Department of Development and Reform Committee in Gansu province(DRC),the relevant principals of the DRC and Lanzhou University, principals, academic leaders teachers and students representatives of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, the state Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, and Gansu Provincial Chemical Catalytic Engineering Laboratory.Tu Yongqiang, Li Hengbin, Xu Shengyun and Ma Jiantai unveiled the plaque together for the new lab.
Li Hengbin, on behalf of LZU, expressed our thanks to the DRC’s support for our university and congratulations on the establishment of the new lab. He pointed out that the constructin of the lab is a new progress in the scientific research platform construction, and he hoped that in the future, the lab could provide technical support for the development of economic and social transformation in Gansu province, around the urgent need for the major chemical catalytic engineering construction and industrial development, under the full support of Lanzhou University.
Xu Shengyun also congratulated the inauguration of the lab. Prof. Ma Jiantai, director of the new laboratory, introduced the basics of the construction of the lab in the aspects of the construction goal, research direction, foundation, operation management, etc. After the inauguration ceremony, the delegates visited the lab.
The lab was approved to construct by the DRC as the first approved engineering laboratory of Gansu province at LZU in May 2012, which mainly conducts the research in precious metal catalyst, transition metal catalyst, molecular sieve catalyst for the need of the production of fine chemicals, pharmaceutical intermediates, pesticide, etc., committed to the research of catalyst and fine chemicals production technology and the providing relevant technical support, for the purpose of cutting resource consumption, strengthening the ecological construction, and thus promoting the development of catalyst industry and fine chemical industry in Gansu province.
