New progress made by LZU’s sino-U.K. scientific cooperation and exchanges on urban geohazards prevention and utilization of underground space

Renowned scholars in urban geohazards prevention and utilization of underground space at home and abroad were invited by LZU, Xian Geological Survey Centre of China Geological Survey and Gansu Emergency Response Center of Geological Disaster to attend seminars and jointly organize field investigations in the city of Xi  an,Lanzhou, Longnan, Zhouqu county and etc. from June 9th to 18th. Participants also discussed a series of significant scientific issues on geohazards prevention and utilization of underground space and achieved fruitful results.

Experts made 11 high-level academic reports on the theme of urban geology and geohazards prevention for LZU. Local land bureaus and relevant sci-tech enterprises in Lanzhou also participated in this activity. All parties have negotiated multiple cooperation approaches which intended to enhance the combination of government, industry, university, institute and consumers, and to promote the international scientific cooperation and exchanges. After heated discussion, experts have formulated the cooperation research and the planning on further developing the urban geohazards prevention and utilization of underground space in cities alongsideXian-Lanzou-Xining.
