On August 21, President Yan Chunhua and Vice President Gou Xioahua met with Prof. Eric Westhof, Academician of French Académie des Sciences and President of University of Strasbourg at the Yifu Science Building. Prof. Hou Suiwen, Dean of School of Life Science, and Ms. Liu Fang, Secretary of the School of Life Science Party Committee, attended the meeting.
On behalf of LZU, President Yan Chunhua extended warm welcome to Prof. Eric Westhof and introduced the history, disciplines， the latest development and achievements made in international development of LZU.
Vice President Gou Xiaohua gave an introduction to measures and achievements of LZU in cultivating top-notch talents in basic disciplines and interdisciplinary talents, as well as the development and achievements in the discipline of resources, environment, and ecological protection of LZU.
Prof. Eric Westhof introduced the subject setting, student cultivating model of French universities, and the organizations and management of the French National Centre for Scientific Research. Both sides also discussed relevant topics of interest.
After the meeting, Prof. Eric Westhof delivered a lecture themed on “Why is RNA so special: from the origin of life to the therapeutics” for LZU students.
