LZU Holds Appointment Ceremony for Academician Fang Xiaomin

On the April 16, the appointment ceremony for Academician Fang Xiaomin was held at Chengguan Campus. LZU Party Secretary Ma Xiaojie, President Yan Chunhua, and Deputy Secretary Wu Guosheng attended the ceremony. President Yan Chunhua signed the appointment agreement on behalf of LZU.

Party Secretary Ma Xiaojie extended a warm welcome and expressed his sincere gratitude to Academician Fang Xiaomin for joining LZU. He stated that as an outstanding alumnus, Academician Fang Xiaomin has been maintaining long-term cooperation with LZU in joint scientific research and talents cultivation . He hoped that Academician Fang Xiaomin would provide more guidance and assistance for disciplines of geoscience to promote high-quality development of geoscience and further enhance talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, cultural heritage innovation, as well as international exchanges and cooperation.

President Yan Chunhua exchanged views on the development of geoscience disciplines with Academician Fang Xiaomin. He pointed out that LZU should actively participate in scientific expeditions to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau as well as the construction of national major projects and focus on the key projects such as the exploration of new energy and mineral resources to make LZU’s voice heard and enable LZU to be more influential. Also, he added that LZU should advance in-depth cooperation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences under the new circumstances and inject new vitality into the development of education and science to build up new prospects for future development.

In the future, he will continuously promote the integration of scientific research and talent cultivation, foster the construction of major platforms and internationalization, striving to contribute to the construction of disciplines for geoscience.
