1st students art gala of Shanghai Cooperation Organization
-- Special Performance at LZU—Held

On the evening of December 2, 2011,the first Students Art Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) – a Special Performance at Lanzhou University—was successfully held in Yuzhong Campus. Jing Tao, Vice President of Lanzhou University, gave an opening speech. Sarsenbekova Gulnar from Kazakhstan Al-Farabi National University, leaders and guests from Foreign Affairs Office, Youth League Committee, Students Affairs office, Teachers Union, School of Arts, School of International Cultural Exchanges and the University Library attended this festival. More than 1,000 Chinese and foreign guests and students watched the performance.

   It was told that this performance was hosted by Lanzhou University as entrusted by the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Foreign Affairs Department, Youth League Committee, Students Affairs Department, Teachers Union, School of Arts and School of International Cultural Exchange for the purpose of implementing the proposal of China holding the first Students Art Festival of Shanghai Cooperation Organization proposed by Premier Wen Jiabao at the 9th Prime Ministers’ Conference of the SCO Member Countries in November 2010. The performance could further promote the mutual understanding and friendship between the young students from the SCO members.

   Members of the delegation from Ali Al-Farabi National University and the students from School of Arts and School of International Cultural Exchanges, Lanzhou University, presented brilliant programs, including Kazakhstan's traditional musical instrument performance, Uigurian and Tibetan dances by students from School of Arts, the Kyrgyzstan Dance and semichorus performed by girls from School of International Cultural Exchange reflected different cultures. These excellent performances won burst of applause and cheers. The evening party, enjoyable and unforgettable for all the guests and students in a light and peaceful atmosphere, came to an end at 9:30 p.m. amid a chorus “Cheers for the Motherland”.
