Themed as“Inclusion and Innovation towards Universal Health Coverage”, the Second Global Symposium on Health Systems Research of the World Health Organization was grandly held by Peking University Health Science Center from October 31st to November 3rd in Beijing. 1,775 delegates from over 110 countries and regions participated the high-level worldwide symposium on health systems research, including 4 teachers and 2 students from Lanzhou University, namely Tian JinHui, Liu Yali, Chen Yaolong, Bai Zhenggang, Li Xiuxia and Xiao Xiaojuan from Evidence-Based Medicine Center, which is the second time for LZU to send delegates to participate in a worldwide symposium on health systems research since the First Global Symposium on Health Systems Research held in Montreux in 2010.
The symposium consists of 25 keynote speeches, 158 group sessions and 507 posters for communication and mainly discussed the topics on the latest research findings covering human health, the main strategies, promotion of research cooperation and multidisciplinary integration, etc. The abstracts of two papers from LZU were included as posters for communication. They are “A description of the high quality evidence for health policy research in China: Evidence-based health policy research” by Li Xiuxia and “Translation, dissemination and application of health systems evidence in China” by Xiao Xiaojuan. Chen Yaolong introduced the situation of translation, dissemination and application of health systems evidence promotion of the world's largest health policy and system database--- “Health Systems Evidence” in China at the group session of “Launch of the enhanced version of Health Systems Evidence”.
After three days of discussion, the symposium ended at 5:00 pm on November 3. At the closing ceremony, the executive chairman Tim Evans read out the important achievement of the symposium--- "Beijing Declaration". The third symposium is to be held by South Africa or Canada in 2014.
