From November 17th to 22nd, Prof. POPOVA Irina, director of the Oriental Literature Institute of Academy of Sciences in Russia, visited Lanzhou University for a six-day academic exchanges.

On the afternoon of 19th, Prof. POPOVA Irina made a lecture titled as "Chinese Literature Collection in Russia" in the Institute of Dunhuang Studies. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Zheng Binglin. The teachers and students of the institute and the students from the other universities listened to the lecture, inculding Mr. TAKATA Tokio, the international famous experts in Dunhuang Studies from Kyoto University in Japan working for the institute.

At the lecture, Prof. POPOVA Irina showed various Chinese collection in Russia currently with vivid pictures. She also successively introduced the main historical figures and related events between China and Russia since the early 17th century to the 1950s.

It is reported that Prof. POPOVA Irina is a famous sinologist in Russia, especially in the history of Tang dynasty and Dunhuang Studies. It is the second time for her to visit Lanzhou University since 2004. At present The Institute of Dunhuang Studies keeps a long-term cooperative relations with the Oriental Literature Institute of Academy of Sciences in Russia.In 2011, the two sides had held a joint international seminar on "the current situation and future of research on Dunhuang literature in Russia". This time, apart from offering the latest works on Dunhuang Studies and Xixia studies, the two sides also talked about the matters on joint research, publishing and exchanging teachers and students in future.
