Recently, the results for the 29th Mathematical Contest in Modeling 2013 (MCM 2013) were put up. Among the 26 teams from LZU, 4 won the first prize, and 3 gained the second prize.
The contest challenges teams of students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems in English. In this year, the contest attracts 6,593 teams from universities of over 10 countries such as Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
In recent years, LZU has achieved outstanding results in both MCM and China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM), namely 12 teams have gained the first prize, 20 teams the second prize in MCM altogether; 4 teams have won the first prize, 20 teams the second prize and 29 outstanding winners from Gansu Province in CUMCM altogether. Due to the excellent results LZU gained in past, not only the students from LZU took an active part in MCM, but also the students from Peking University, Wuhan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, etc. joined in LZU to participate in MCM this year.
