Dr. Joel Glassman from UMSL & delegates visit LZU

Along with Ms. Zhu Lili, director of International Office of Gansu Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, Dr. Joel Glassman, associate provost for academic affairs and the director of the Center for International Studies of the University of Missouri, St. Louis (UMSL), and Prof. Zhao Shuming, Honorary Dean of Nanjing University’s Business School, visited LZU on July 9th. Jing Tao, vice president of LZU met with Dr. Glassman and delegates in the VIP room of Yifu Science Hall on the morning of 9th, with the principals from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the School of Management, and Cuiying Honors College(CHC) in attendance.

After introducing the history, outstanding subjects, and international cooperation and exchange of each university, the two sides investigated how to launch cooperation and exchange in the fields of management, etc. and the dual degree program for undergraduates between UMSL and LZU, in the hope of promoting to implement the student exchange program as soon as possible so as to provide more opportunities to study for the two universities’ students.

Besides, Dr. Glassman and delegates had an informal discussion with the principals of the School of Management about the detailed matters relating to cooperation in the field of management. Afterwards, they visited CHC. Prof. Long, executive dean of the college, briefed the guests on CHC and China’s Top-notch Undergraduate Training Program, mentioning that over 70% of our students have been abroad for short or long-term study programs. Dr. Glassman stated that he was looking forward to future collaboration, such as, online courses, joint summer schools, intensive English programs, or long-term student exchanges. Although there were challenges of different semester dates in the two schools and different global time zones for online courses, both leaders believed that there would be some efficient and creative solutions. Both sides will work together to develop a long-term partnership.
