Recently, at the invitation of the organizing committee of the Eighth Russian Quaternary Academic Conference, prof. Yang Taibao went to Russia to attend the conference, exchanging ideas with Russian academic fellows in quaternary research, and investigating and discussing cooperative research programs.
Jointly held by some branches of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), such as the Quaternary Research Council of the Geology Department , the South Branch, the Institute of Geography, the Institute of Geology, and the Institute of Research in Arid Regions, the Eighth Russian Quaternary Academic Conference was held in Rostov, a southern city by the river in Russia from June 11th to 15th, themed as “basic scientific problems, research progress and main research tendency of the quaternary", with 260 researchers from Russia, China, Netherlands, Britain, the United States, and the Commonwealth of Independent States in attendance.
At the conference, prof. Yang made a report titled "The record of MIS11 stage climate characteristics in loess and its comparison with the Holocene”, which is evaluated as "one of the most informative and valuable reports".
Apart from three-day report discussion and two-day filed study, during the visit in Russia, prof. Yang visited the South Branch of RAS, the Institute of Geography of RAS, the Institute of Research in Arid Regions of RAS, the Department of Geography at the University of Moscow, and the Department of Geography at St. Petersburg University, conducted in-depth discussion on scientific research cooperation, personnel and academic exchanges with the Russian fellows, reached a great many consensuses, and signed agreements on cooperative research program with the South Branch of RAS and the Institute of Geography of RAS.
