Seminar on LUSM’s International Accreditation and Transformation Development held with success

The Seminar on LUSM(the School of Management of Lanzhou University)’s International Accreditation and Transformation Development was held with success on Dec. 23rd, 2012. More than 170 people including the staff, student representatives and alumni representatives participated, and the seminar was hosted by Tian Zhonghe, Party Secretary of the school.

Dean Bao Guoxian made a report on “By the Chance of International Accreditation, by Way of Transformation Development, to Promote All the Work of the School into a New Stage”. Dean Bao reviewed the work of 2012 from 7 aspects: discipline construction & scientific research, undergraduate education, graduate education, education of professional degrees, international & Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan cooperation, administrative work and social services. He emphasized that in the year 2013, “international accreditation & school’s transformation development” should be regarded as our top theme, and breakthroughs should be made in 6 aspects: international accreditation, the governance of the School & reform of its management systems, running and management of the research institutes, reform and innovation of talent cultivation & teaching methods, alumni & strategic cooperation, construction of the school’s working conditions and its distinctive culture. The main work tasks of 2013 were clarified.

Assoc. Prof. Li Zhiyuan, director of International Accreditation Office, made a report on “promote the transformation development by the chance of AMBA accreditation”, emphasized the necessity of AMBA accreditation. Zhao Yanhai, deputy director of the office, made a speech to explain the collection of the teachers’ accreditation materials.

Next, people participated were divided into 7 groups to discuss around the topic “international accreditation & School’s transformation development”. Then 7 representatives from 7 groups made a summary report. The seminar lasted one whole day, the staff, student representatives and alumni actively participated, offered advice and suggestions, which pointed out the direction for the school’s future development.
