Sanshou championship held by Confucius Institute co-established by LZU in Georgia

The sixth Georgia "Confucius Institute Cup" Sanshou Championship was opened in Tbilisi on NOV 23rd. This Championship was jointly held by Georgian Wushu Association and Confucius Institute at Free University of Tbilisi co-established by LZU. More than 50 Sanshou athletes from Georgia and Iran participated in the competition. Some officials and representatives from China and Georgia also attended the opening ceremony and watched the competition. The competition attracted hundreds of local teachers, students and sports fans. 

The Chinese martial arts performance by Georgian Wushu Association and the special performance by Confucius Institute marked the beginning of the one-day event. Yue Bin, Chinese ambassador to Georgia, praised the spirit of the players and encouraged them to make more efforts in training. Minister Levan Kipiani spoke highly of the competition and hoped to promote the development of Chinese martial arts in Georgia.

Martial art is one of the influential sports in Georgia. In view of this, Confucius Institute has planned and organized a number of martial arts activities, which produces good social effects and inspires people’s enthusiasm of learning martial arts. At the end of the competition, a certificate was awarded to Confucius Institute by Georgian Wushu Association in praise of its contributions to promoting the communication and development in martial arts.

The competition has improved the cooperation among Confucius Institute co-established by LZU, local governments and non-governmental organizations, and promoted the integration of Chinese culture and local communities.
