Prof. Sun Bonian appointed as editor of Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)

Prof. Sun Bonian, from School of Geological Science and Mineral Resources of LZU, was appointed as a member of the 39th Editorial Committee of Acta Geologica Sinica (English Edition) in Beijing on November 9th. Leaders from China Association for Science and Technology (CASI) and Geological Society of China, the editorial staff and the Editorial Committee members of the journal attended the conference. The newly-established Editorial Committee is composed of 55 members, 24 of which are Chinese.

As the world enters a new stage in the 21st century when science and technology become increasingly important, economic and social development imposes mounting requirements on geoscientists, and geological research is serving the society in ever broader fields. In view of this, Academician Shu Degan, newly appointed editor-in-chief, delivered a speech on the conference. Prof. Sun also gave a speech and put forward some suggestions for the development of the journal. The conference will help enhance the international influence of the journal.
