The first session of the Board of Directors of Lanzhou University Education Development Foundation of was held at Yifu Science Hall on the morning of Dec. 18. It was presided over by Vice President Pan Baotian and aimed to establish the Board organization and elect directors and supervisors. Mr. Wang Hansong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of LZU and newly-appointed Chairperson of the Board, delivered a speech and issued letters of appointment to newly-elected directors, supervisors and legal advisers. The Board discussed and laid down "Constitution of LZU Education Development Foundation", “Measures on LZU Education Development Foundation Financial Management” and other regulations.
Later in the afternoon, the launch conference of LZU Education Development Foundation was held at Yifu Science Hall, attracting representatives of students, alumni and leaders from LZU and other institutions.
President Wang Cheng gave a speech on the conference and put forward some specific suggestions on the operation of the Board. He emphasized that the establishment of the Foundation was an important step for the university's reform and development. Chairperson Wang Hansong, on behalf of the Board, expressed his gratitude to all those concerning about and supporting the Foundation. He made the commitment that the fund would be appropriately used.
At the conference, Chairperson Wang Hansong and Lou Haoliang, General Manager of Shan Dong Wantong Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, signed a ten-year contract. According to the contract, the Corporation will annually donate 600,000 RMB to subsidize the students excellent in character and learning but with financial difficulties.
