Pres. Wang attends 8th Global Confucius Institute Conference

The 8th Global Confucius Institute Conference was held in Beijing on Dec. 7. The event brought together government leaders, university presidents and heads of Confucius Institutes from all over the world. President Wang Cheng and Vice President Pan Baotian of Lanzhou University were invited to the conference.

At the invitation of Mrs. Xu Lin, Head of Hanban (the Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language), President Wang Cheng delivered a lecture entitled "Explorations and Reflections on MOOCs" at a forum. In the lecture, President Wang introduced LZU's explorations into and reflections on MOOCs and proposed to offer MOOCs at Confucius Institutes in Central Asia regions, which won the echoes of the participants.   

During the conference, President Wang and Vice President Pan Baotian communicated respectively with the leaders of the three universities which cofound Confucius Institutes with LZU. The two sides made a discussion on some affairs covering the development of Confucius Institute, inter-university cooperation and academic exchange, etc.    

Vice President Pan Baotian also met with Mr. Wang Yongli, Deputy Director of Hanban, and gave a report on the Confucius Institutes cofounded by LZU. Deputy Director Wang Yongli encouraged LZU to give full play to its own advantage and organize more cultural activities to further enhance the influence of Chinese culture.
