USCO Chinese research center of regional science established

The opening ceremony of Chinese Research Center of Regional Science under the framework of University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (USCO) as well as the first academic annual conference was held at Qiongzhou University on Dec. 13.

Mr. Wang Yuhua, deputy secretary-general of USCO China Secretariat and head of LZU International Cooperation and Exchange Office, was invited to deliver a speech on the conference. He introduced LZU’s efforts since its joining USCO regional science research and hoped to take USCO as a platform to strengthen the communication and cooperation on regional science between Chinese and foreign universities.

On the two-day conference attracted about 30 delegates from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Normal University, Capital Normal University, Jilin University, Lanzhou University, Shandong University, Northeast Normal University, Xinjiang University, Heilongjiang University, Xinjiang Normal University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, journal press Foreign Languages Research and Teaching Russian in China, etc.

Some hot issues including Sino-Russian relations, Russian humanistic spirit, Sino-U.S.-Russia triangle relationship, foreign language research and regional science studies, etc were discussed on the conference.

News Background:

LZU joined USCO Regional Science Research in July 2013. To improve talent training and broaden the channel of cooperation, LZU has formulated its own training program on regional science. It plans to send two postgraduates majoring in regional science to Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) next year.
