Academic monograph edited by LZU Professor published by Wiley

Catalytic Cascade Reactions edited by Professor Xu Pengfei, from State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry at LZU, and Professor Wang Wei, from New Mexico State University (NMSU), was published by the globally renowned publishing company John Wiley & Sons Ltd. This is one of the few monographs in the field of organic chemistry edited by Chinese professors and published by Wiley.

Catalytic cascade reactions have become one of the most active research areas in organic synthesis. Compared with traditional related reactions, catalytic cascade reactions are more efficient and simpler. During a cascade reaction, just one reaction solvent, one workup procedure, and one purification step are enough, thus significantly increasing synthetic efficiency, which attracts the attention from an increasing number of chemists. Catalytic Cascade Reactions collected the works by many famous American and Chinese scholars in this field and covered a variety of aspects of organocatalysis and transition-metal catalysis reactions. Besides, this work also introduced the application of transition-metal catalyzed cascade reactions to natural product synthesis and drug discovery, which was the first academic work on organocatalytic cascade reactions in the world. Featuring contributions from an international team of pioneers in the field, Catalytic Cascade Reactions depicted and discussed the important results in this field, referred to some new opinions and forecasted the development of some key results so as to promote the findings of more cascade reactions and apply them to the natural product synthesis and drug discovery.
