Chinese volunteer teachers celebrate Spring Festival in Georgia

The Spring Festival is not only a traditional festival of China, but a time for family reunion. However, the volunteers engaged in the promotion of Chinese language in Georgia have to celebrate the festival overseas because of their work. Even so, the volunteers still had a great Spring Festival in Georgia.

On January 30, 2014, Chinese volunteer teachers were invited by Yue Bin, the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, to the embassy to celebrate the New Year.

Ambassador Yue delivered his New Year’s greetings to Chinese volunteer teachers and Chinese journalists in Georgia, and spoke highly of their work in popularizing Chinese language and spreading Chinese culture. He also encouraged them to make more efforts to promote the mutual understanding and friendship between China and Georgia. At last, Ambassador Yue added that the Chinese Embassy in Georgia would consistently support volunteers’ work in Georgia and offer all possible help. The embassy staff in Georgia cooked dumplings and watched the Spring Festival Gala together with the Chinese volunteer teachers.

At 20:30 Tbilisi Time (Beijing Time 00:30), the volunteers, after leaving the embassy, came to Liu Guangwen’s home, a senior overseas Chinese. They tasted the Chinese food and Georgian food prepared by Liu. After the meal, Liu had a talk with these volunteers, shared her stories and played games with them. The volunteers did not leave Liu’s home until the next morning. All the volunteers expressed that this Spring Festival would be cherished in their memory.
