Ambassador Yue Bin lectures at Confucius Institute of Georgia

Chinese Ambassador to Georgia Yue Bin gave a lecture on Chinese history and culture for the sixth-grade students at the invitation of public school #98 in Tbilisi on Feb. 12, a teaching location of Confucius Institute of Georgia co-established with Lanzhou University. Ambassador Yue also attended Chinese culture exhibition activities.

The course Chinese history and culture was offered in as early as 2012 when LZU began to build overseas practice bases of MTCSOL. In 45 minutes, Ambassador Yue made an introduction to Chinese culture covering ancient philosophies, architecture techniques, poetry, literature, the four great inventions and so on. He also introduced China’s domestic and foreign policies and advocated the Chinese ideas of harmonious society and peaceful diplomacy. Moreover, he also introduced China’s social and economic development after the reform and opening up and expressed his longing for the realization of the Chinese Dream. 

Ambassador Yue demonstrated a long history and profound traditional friendship between China and Georgia through his introduction to the ancient Silk Road. At last, he encouraged all the students to learn Chinese and make contributions to the relationship between China and Georgia in the future.

After the class, 7 students demonstrated presentations themed Himalayas, Great Wall, Buddhism, Chinese characters, Silk Road, Chinese musical instruments and Chinese Zodiac respectively.

In the end, the school principal expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Yue’s coming and for the Chinese volunteer teacher’s work. Attaching importance to the learning of Chinese language, the school had held many activities to promote Chinese learning. The principal also expressed his wishes of having more opportunities to communicate and cooperate with Chinese schools.
