A student delegation, organized by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, paid a visit to Japan from March 3 to 11 at the invitation of Japan-China Friendship Center. The student delegation consists of 90 undergraduates from Gansu, Shaanxi and Sichuan Province. With the help of Gansu Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, 26 Japanese major students from LZU participated in this exchange activity.
The students visited the architectures with profound Japanese traditional cultures such as Tokyo Imperial Palace, Kiyomizu Temple, Yakushi Temple. In addition, they also visited Toshodai Temple and Kyoto Arashiyama Zhou Enlai Monument, which confirmed the historical links between China and Japan. Apart from communicating with students and teachers at Doshisha University and Waseda University, the students also visited Tokyo Ariake Wastewater Reclamation Centre and observed the process of sewage treatment.
The art of ink stick making has a long history in Japan. Under the guidance of two masters, the students also made their own unique ink sticks. Moreover, the students were arranged to take the Shinkansen and live in local peoples’ homes in Asuka for one night. When the departure time came, the people in Asuka shook hands with those students and said, “We hope more Chinese students will come to Japan, and we want to know more about China. Please bring our best regards to the Chinese people.”
This activity also won the attention and support from Chinese Embassy in Japan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, both of which dispatched representatives to attend the farewell meeting.
The exchange has greatly enhanced students’ understanding of Japan and improved their communicative competence. What’s more, the students also make friends with many excellent students at home and abroad.
