On 13th April, 2014, Professor Roy Glauber, winner of the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physics for “his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence” gave a public lecture to a packed hall in the lobby of Cuiying Honors College. On the invitation of Cuiying Honors College and the School of Physics, Professor Glauber gave a clear explanation of the history of classical optics and introduced his own contribution to the field of quantum optics. Students were especially inspired by his interesting personal history. Later in the afternoon, Prof. Glauber also met with more than fifty students for an informal seminar, where he answered students’ questions and even signed some autographs.
