Academician Tu Yongqiang was invited as the co-executive chairman to preside over the 512th Xiangshan Science Conference (XSC) —— "Chiral Science and Technology", and made a report entitled "Chiral Catalysis Applications in the Natural Products and Pharmaceutical Synthesis". At the meeting, nearly 40 experts and scholars from about 20 units held in-depth discussions about the cutting-edge issues of chiral synthesis, chiral drugs and chiral materials researches and the future orientation of the chiral chemistry science, and analyzed the potential growth points of related disciplines and new cross-discipline problems from November 19 to 20.
Xiangshan Science Conference was initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology (formerly the State Science and Technology Commission), officially founded by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1993 and jointly sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Ministry of Education, PLA General Armament Department, the former National Defense Science, Technology and Industry Committee, China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Health and Family Planning Commission and the Ministry of Agriculture, etc. Xiangshan Science Conference aims to create an enabling academic environment, advocate academic democracy, advance the cutting-edge science, promote cross-disciplinary integration and overall comprehensive research, inspire creative thinking and carry forward knowledge innovation.
