127 million funds approved to LZU by NSFC in 2014

In the year of 2014 (up to now), Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) approved a total of 181 projects of LZU, a year on year increase of 5.2%; the total approved project funding amounted to 127.46 million yuan, a year on year increase of 9.5%; and the approval rate of projects increased to 33.8%, 8.8 percentage points higher than last year. Among them are 5 key projects, 1 major research program, 1 innovative research group (with extended funding), 1 project of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (NSFDYS), 4 projects of the Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 84 general projects , 77 projects of the Youth Science Fund, and 8 other projects.

Professor Wang Wei, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, obtained the funding of 4 million yuan from the NSFDYS. Currently, there are a total of 22 NSFDYS winners in Lanzhou University.

The National Innovative Research Group Project of the "Nonlinear Mechanics of Complex Environment Interaction with the Media", chaired by Professor Zhou Youhe from the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, was approved with the renewed funding of 6 million yuan by the committee. Currently, there are a total of 3 National Innovative Research Group Projects in Lanzhou University.

Professor Huang Liang from the School of Physical Science and Technology, professor Fang Xiangwen from the School of Life Sciences Professor, professor Nie Junsheng from the Key Laboratory of Western China’s Environmental Systems, and associate professor Han Bingfu from the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry obtained funding of the Outstanding Young Science Fund of China. Currently, there are a total of 11 winners of the Outstanding Young Science Fund of China in Lanzhou University.
