Professor Yang Shu and his delegation of central Asia institute LZU visited Uzbekistan

On November 12, Yang Shu, Zeng Xianghong and Zhu Yongbiao of the Institute for Central Asian Studies Lanzhou University (ICAS) took part in the 11th International Sinology and “Silk Road Economic Belt” Academic Workshop held by the Confucius Institute in Tashkent and delivered speeches respectively entitled “Economic Development Axis: Regional Advantages and Problems”, “Silk Road Economic Belt and Cooperation Between China and Uzbekistan” and “Significance of Cultural Factors on Silk Road Economic Belt”. Professor Mamannuofu, president of Tashkent Oriental University, and Sun Lijie, Chinese ambassador to Uzbekistan, attended the meeting and made speeches. Channel 2 of Ukrainian National Television interviewed Professor Yang Shu on the development of sinology in Ukraine and reported it. The Xinhua Agency and China Economic Net in China also reported on the event.

Professor Yang Shu Visited the Institute for Water Problems

During the visit to Ukraine, Professor Yang Shu gave lectures in the embassy on Central Asia and relevant issues at the invitation of Ambassador Sun Lijie. He also visited the China-Ukraine Gas Pipeline Program Headquarter, affiliated to the China National Petroleum Corp. Trans-Asia Pipeline Co. Ltd., and had a forum with General Manager Li Lin on the development of energy cooperation between China and Central Asia. After that, Professor Yan Shu visited the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) and met with executive director Zhang Xinfeng of the structure and exchanged views on regional counter-terrorist (For more details, please refer to the website of RATS SCO). Besides, Professor Yangshu also visited the Department of Geology of Tashkent State University and the Institute for Irrigation and Water Problems of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of Uzbekistan, which is the largest research institute of water issues in central Asia and plays a large role in the international arena.
