Over the past one hundred years, torches have been carried on, self-reliant spirit was never lost and the LZU is sailing through waves for a better future. On the afternoon of September 5, the newly-enrolled graduate students attended the opening ceremony of school, i.e. report on enrollment education, in the auditorium of the Student Center on the Base Campus. Party Secretary of LZU Wang Hansong, President of LZU Wang Cheng, vice Party Secretary of LZU Cao Aihui, Vice President of LZU Chen Fahu, Xu Shengcheng and Cao Hong attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Cao Hong.
Wang Cheng, on behalf of the LZU, extended warm welcome to the newly-enrolled graduate students and expected them to add distinctive and wonderful chapters of youth to the LZU.
Wang Cheng said that LZU was a high-level research university and was a key university under the national “985 Project” and “211 Project”. Graduate education is an important part of the talent training of the school. In response to the national and regional construction development, LZU is keeping up with the international academic frontier and has trained and delivered a number of academic talents and high-level practical talents with abundant expertise and top-notch innovation abilities.
Wang Cheng expressed his expectations for newly-enrolled graduate students: First, stick to academic training and improve academic pursuits. Grasp theories, especially cutting-edge theories that suit practice. Acquire interdisciplinary vision and thinking by mastering interdisciplinary integration, merging and penetration, cutting-edge breakthroughs and significant original achievements in science. Second, uphold the spirit of science and pursue superior code of conduct. Only by maintaining scientific and research integrity, promoting the pursuit of truth and new knowledge, advocating rationality, focusing on the empirical scientific tradition and abiding by strict and rigorous scientific methods, could one actually make innovations and breakthroughs. Third, bravely assume the responsibility of the time and serve the nation. As young scientific and technical workers, you will become the backbone of China in the future. You will face such a problem: How to really improve the innovative capacity of the country? What responsibilities should you assume? These are important issues for you to consider about and explore in the future.
Prof. Wang Wei, deputy director of the State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry, delivered a speech on behalf of tutors of graduate students. Zhang Beibei, a Ph.D student from the School of History and Culture, and Wei Dang, a newly-enrolled graduate student from the School of Medicine, made speeches separately on behalf of the graduate students and the newly-enrolled graduate students.
Heads of functional departments, schools, institutes and graduate students working group of LZU and representatives of the newly-enrolled graduates attended the opening ceremony in the Student Center.
After the opening ceremony of school, Prof. Zhang Ke from the School of History and Culture delivered a report on enrollment education named “Good Study Style is Essential in Talent Training”, which is a vivid lesson for all the newly-enrolled graduate students.
