From December 28 to December 30, 2014, Associate Professor Jiang Yiwei of Purdue University, U.S., visited Lanzhou University, as a response to the invitation of Vice Dean Wang Suomin of the School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology of Lanzhou University.
On the morning of December 29, Associate Professor Jiang Yiwei delivered an academic report entitled as “Integrated Physiology and Genomics Approaches for Dissecting Stress Tolerance in Perennial Ryegrass” in the lecture hall on the 4th floor of Biye Building. Combining with the major research results, he introduced in detail their progress in the stress tolerance and genomic mechanism in perennial ryegrass. His main focus was how to combine the physical features with genes, so as to find out the genes related to stress tolerance. After the lecture, Dr. Jiang Yiwei exchanged ideas with the teachers and students on the researches of turfgrass. Professor Wang Suomin hosted the lecture and presented a letter of appointment as guest professor at Lanzhou University to Dr. Jiang Yiwei. Over 160 teachers and graduate students from the relevant majors listened to the report.
On the morning of December 30, Dr. Jiang Yiwei, together with academic backbone and graduate students of forage and turfgrass research, participated in a discussion. Dr. Jiang shared his opinions and answered the questions put forward by each teacher and student. On the afternoon of December 30, he paid a visit to the intelligent greenhouse of the School of Pastoral Agriculture Science and Technology on the Yuzhong Campus. During the visit, he delivered an academic report named “Recent Advances in Turfgrass Stress Physiology” and answered the students’ questions in detail, which raised strong learning interest among the students.
