Yue Bin, Chinese Ambassador to Georgia came to the the University of St. Andrews to observe the teaching of Liang Kongkong, student of 2012 MTCSOL (Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) of Lanzhou University and learn about the Chinese language teaching in the University of San Andreas on December 24.
As a volunteer Chinese teacher with two years of teaching experience, Liang Kongkong was skilled in using multimedia, projectors, flash cards and other teaching tools. Through interesting and relaxing interaction, he taught students the Chinese culinary vocabulary and Chinese food culture. More than 20 students enthusiastically answered questions and carefully wrote notes in the active atmosphere.
Principle of the University of St. Andrews introduced the Chinese language teaching in the university, spoke highly of the LZU’s volunteer Chinese teacher Liang Kongkong, and said the University of St. Andrews would strive to create better conditions for Chinese language teaching to attract more students to learn Chinese.
Yue Bin also affirmed the teaching methods and achievements of Liang Kongkong, hoping he would do better in teaching. He also had a cordial conversation with the students, encouraging them to be enthusiastic in learning Chinese language and culture and understand the development of contemporary China and even go to China for further study to carry forward the traditional friendship between Georgia and China. Yue Bin took the pictures with the teachers and students and presented the Chinese stationery and books of Chinese Literature Reading in Georgian language. He said that the Chinese Embassy in Georgia would continue to support the cause of promoting Chinese language in Georgia.
Currently, LZU has selected three groups of volunteer Chinese teachers to Georgia. Under the unified management and coordination of the Confucius Institute co-founded by the University of Tbilisi and Lanzhou University, volunteers make great efforts to teach Chinese language and actively organize various Chinese cultural activities, which are warmly welcomed by local students and appreciated by the Chinese embassy in Georgia and Georgian officials in education.
