LZU signed strategic cooperation agreement with Nantong

Lanzhou University signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Nantong City, Jiangsu Province on December 11. Wang Cheng, President of LZU, Li Zhengyuan, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee and Secretary of Discipline Inspection Commission of LZU, Xu Shengcheng and Gao Xincai, both Vice Presidents of LZU, Ding Dawei, Secretary of Municipal Committee of the CPC, Zhang Guohua, Mayor, Huang Weidong, General Secretary of the Municipal Standing Committee of CPC, Chan Xiaoming, Deputy Mayor, Gu Nuozhi, General Secretary of the government of Nantong City and others attended the ceremony.

Wang Cheng pointed out in his speech that through signing the strategic cooperation agreement with Nantong City, LZU could play its advantages and make important breakthrough in serving the national economic and social development, and Nantong could use the opportunity to develop the coastal areas through science and education, achieve development by pooling talents, give full play to the leading and supporting role of science and technology in the economic development, and actively implement the important initiatives of developing the South China Sea and the Yangtze River Estuaries, and land and sea areas together. He hoped that both sides would establish long-term and stable personnel training and technological innovation partnership and lay a solid foundation for the further comprehensive, standardized and institutionalized and in-depth cooperation.

Ding Dawei stated that the strategic cooperation between Nantong, a major mouth to important rivers, and LZU, an important node in the Silk Road Economic Zone, could provide a great opportunity for Nantong to get deeply involved in the development of the Silk Road Economic Zone and the Yangtze River Economic Belt and also a solid base for LZU to become more prominent in China and even the world. Nantong would create an enabling environment for LZU by providing best service, strive to make further progress and cultivate more talent, and help LZU to play a greater role in China.

In the ceremony, Wang Cheng on behalf of LZU and Zhang Guohua, on behalf of the People's Government of Nantong City signed the strategic cooperation agreement. According to the agreement, LZU would set up students’ practice base in the Science and Technology City of Tongzhou Bay, Research Institute and Technology Industrial Park in Nantong, and promote high-level Sino-foreign cooperation in education, offering intellectual support and decision-making consulting services to Nantong City in terms of the economic and social development.

In Nantong, the delegation led by Wang Cheng made a special trip to the Science and Education City of Tongzhou Bay to visit the first group of 30 students settling down in the practice base. Wang Cheng encouraged them to broaden horizons and do internship conscientiously to lay a good foundation for the future employment and set good examples for future students, and also wished every success in their internship. Xu Shengcheng, vice president of LZU and Xu Xinglin,Deputy General Secretary of the Municipal Committee of CPC of Nantong city jointly inaugurated the LZU students’ practice base in Nantong.
