Recently, Professor Xie Xiaodong from the Academy of Genetics affiliated to School of Basic Medical Sciences, Lanzhou University, was invited to attend the First Leicester Academic Summit of Sino-British Biomedical Cooperation, and paid visits to the University of Leicester. Professor Xie Xiaodong was formally appointed as part-time doctoral tutor by Department of Genetics, University of Leicester. Professor Julian Ketley, dean of Department of Genetics, handed out the letter of appointment to Professor Xie Xiaodong.
In recent years, the research team led by Professor Xie Xiaodong of Lanzhou University has established the comprehensive physical platform and information platform of human populations and shared clinical genetic resources in line with international norms, platforms of systematical medical genetics and translational medicine technology, and conducted a series of innovative researches on major diseases of main ethnics in northwest China especially in the Tibetan Plateau from the perspective of human genetics, medical genetics and translational medicine, achieving remarkable results. The appointment of Professor Xie Xiaodong would help promote the development of human genetics and medical genetics research, expand international cooperation in research fields, and also improve cooperation in training teachers and research personnel.
