On the morning of March 23, Mayor Lianne Dalziel and delegates from the Christchurch New Zealand visited Lanzhou University. President Wang Cheng met with them in the VIP room in the Yifu Science Building. Vice President Pan Baotian, Academician Nan Zhibiao and heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, School of Pastoral Agricultural Science and Technology and School of Management attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Mayor Dalziel referred that Lanzhou University (LZU) has won a good reputation in the area of higher education and that there was great potential for the cooperation between the two sides. She hoped that LZU could expand exchange and cooperation in the areas of combined culture of undergraduate and graduate students, scientific research cooperation and education training, so as to enhance our friendly bilateral relations.
President Wang Cheng introduced to Mayor Dalziel the basic situations, preponderant discipline and international exchanges of the LZU. He highlighted that the pastoral science was an important discipline of the LZU and had received great support from relevant New Zealand scholars. The two sides have cooperated in various areas such as personnel exchange, cooperative research and joint application for research programs. Wang hoped that the two sides could extend the opportunity of Mayor Dalziel’s visit and enhance cooperation between the LZU and New Zealand universities in education.
Mayor Dalziel and delegates also paid a visit to the School of Pastoral Agricultural Science and Technology and met with the heads of the school.
