Associate prof. Zhu Yongbiao attends first annual meeting of CICA NGO forum on invitation

On May 25 and 26, Associate Professor Zhu Yongbiao from the Institute for Central Asia participated in the first annual meeting of the NGO forum - Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (hereafter referred  as CICA). Chairman Xi Jinping sent greetings to the conference. Chen Yuan, vice chairman of the CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) and chairman of the first annual meeting of the CICA NGO forum, read the greetings from President Xi. Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC, attended the annual conference and delivered a keynote speech entitled "Enhance Security in Asia, Promote Common Development".
 

Over 400 delegates participated in the conference, including more than 200 foreign delegates from over 40 countries, such as former Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former Turkish Foreign Minister Ashraf, Russian Ambassador to China Andrei Denisov  and other political figures, ambassadors to China, famous think tanks, social groups and media representatives etc. 13 delegates from universities in China took part in the conference.  
 

The theme of this annual meeting is "Asia in the Next Decade: Security and Development". The meeting concludes two plenary sessions and six roundtable meetings, respectively resided by former foreign minister Li Zhaoxing and head of the Institute of Foreign Affairs Yang Wenchang. Associate Professor Zhu Yongbiao participated in the two plenary meetings and the roundtable meeting of “Anti-terrorist Situation and Cooperation in Asia” as one of the eighteen Chinese delegates and made exchanges with other delegates during the meetings.
