ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) and China’s Lanzhou University have agreed to establish an ecological cycle agriculture research and development centre with an aim to promote research and development of agriculture sector.
A four-member delegation of Lanzhou University, led by Dr Ruijun Long, visited National Agriculture Research Council on Monday where it was briefed about PARC, NARC and their research and development projects. Long said the Lanzhou University president was scheduled to visit Pakistan this September during which agreements for the development of agriculture and collaboration between the two institutions would be discussed and MoUs would be signed. Another professor of the university will also visit Pakistan in July. All these engagements aim to enhance and strengthen collaboration between the two institutes in science and technology. Long said a number of Pakistani students were enrolled at their university.
PARC Chairman Dr Iftikhar Ahmad said growth of agriculture sector was important to ensure poverty alleviation. The two institutions had also signed an MoU for biomass energy research and application in 2013.
