An undergraduate from school of physical science & technology publishes papers on Journal of Materials Chemistry

Recently, Zou Zehua, an undergraduate student majoring in material chemistry in the School of Physical Science and Technology  of Lanzhou University published his research paper entitled “How to induce highly efficient long-lasting phosphorescence in a lamp used commercial phosphor: a facile method and fundamental mechanisms (DOI: 10.1039/C5TC01420D)” on Journal of Materials Chemistry C, an SCI journal under the British Royal Chemical Society. Professor Zhang Jiachi guided his research. This paper designed and implemented a plan on how to develop an efficient lamp-use fluorescent powder with an ultra-long afterglow luminescence (for over 30 hours) on the basis of the Afterglow Mechanism. Long afterglow luminescence materials, known as luminous powder, which could be luminescent for a long time even after the removal of the excitation source, has been widely used among such multi-disciplinary researches as emergency signs, optical storage, biblical imaging, drug transport, solar cells and optical catalysis etc.
