The 2015 BRICS Youth Summit is held both in Moscow and Kazan, Russia from July 1 to 7, and a concrete action plan is reached to strengthen political, economic, cultural, media, science and technology cooperation among countries. About 300 youth representatives from BRICS countries, including 25 Chinese representatives, on behalf of three different groups, namely young entrepreneurs, KAB business mentors and young entrepreneurs, young students, participate in the summit. Ni Pengzhi, undergraduate of 2012 majoring in Russian, from the School of Foreign Languages and Literatures, LZU, was selected by China Youth Daily and appointed by the Central Committee of the Communist Young League to represent young students to attend the summit.
In the summit, the young delegates are divided into five groups to hold discussions on issues of politics, economy, culture, mass media, science and technology. Ni Pengzhi is involved in the discussion of political issue, and conducts in-depth exchanges with representatives from other countries. He proposes to follow relevant provisions on human rights made by the United Nations, and opposes to violations against other countries’ sovereignty in the name of human rights. Proposals made by youth representatives in five aspects will ultimately be composed into a formal report to the BRICS leaders.
After the meeting, the BRICS Youth Affairs officials sign a memorandum of mutual understanding and cooperation in the field of youth. According to the Russian Federal State Youth Services Department, the main orientation of cooperation under the framework of the memorandum is the international youth exchange of experiences and information in the field of implementation of youth policies, and cooperation in the field of business, science and innovation.
