At the 13th International Paleolimnology Symposium (IPS2015) held at Lanzhou University, Prof. John P. Smol, President of International Paleolimnology Association (IPA), was officially appointed by Wang Cheng, President of Lanzhou University, as the honorary professor of LZU on August 6.
Recently, Prof. John P. Smol cooperated with the research team in the field of Paleolimnology of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, LZU, to improve climatic records of lakes and ecological changes, and made great progress in jointly guiding PhD students in climate change and the alpine lake ecosystems in China. With Prof. John P. Smol appointed as the honorary professor of LZU, the scientific research of LZU in the field of ancient lakes and lake environments will be further strengthened in the future.
