13th international paleolimnology symposium (IPS2015) concluded at LZU

The 13th International Paleolimnology Symposium (IPS2015) was held at LZU from August 4 to 7, which was the first meeting series held by International Paleolimnology Association (IPA) in Asia. A total of 308 representatives including nearly 200 Chinese representatives and over 100 foreign representatives attended the symposium, which marked the largest number of participants of IPS in recent years.LZU teachers and students submitted 23 abstracts to the IPS, showcasing achievements in paleolimnology research. IPS invited influential scientists delivering six reports on lake sediment records, regional and global climate changes, ecological and environmental issues of lakes, economic and social issues of sustainable development as well as deep drilling records of global lakes and lakes in China. IPA also scheduled 14 highlight reports and 114 oral presentations in different sessions in order to give an all-round display of deep drilling records of ancient lakes in recent years, climate changes in different time scales, chronology debates, isotope geochemistry, biological indicators, eco-drive mechanism of lakes, lake pollution, eutrophication, lakes' contribution to global methane emissions, lake-peat conversion and records of lake sediments on human activities.
