Memorial activities held at LZU to commemorate 70th anniversary of victory of war of resistance against Japanese aggression and world anti-fascist war

The flag-raising ceremony was held at the square of the main campus of Lanzhou University to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on the morning of September 3. Wang Hansong, Secretary of the CPC Committee of LZU, Zhong Fuguo, deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of LZU, and Cao Hong, Vice President of LZU were present at the ceremony. Other school leaders, political instructors, cadres of youth league and around eight hundred student representatives attended the ceremony. After the ceremony, they watched the live broadcast of the V-Day parade at the Yifu Scientific Center.

Less than 9 am, the Yifu Scientific Center was filled with crowds. “As there is no TV at dormitory, the Center with big screen and crowds of people is more attractive”, said Kang Lei, a student majoring in Radio and Television from the school of Journalism and Communication of 2012 who was in the preparation for the postgraduate entrance exams, “I have not experienced the war, but I understand that only by remembering the uffering experienced by our motherland, will we cherish peace more.”

At the same time, the Feiyun Auditorium, meeting rooms of Guoyun Building and Guiqin Building, student canteens and Nantong practice base were also available for teachers and students to watch the live broadcast of the V-Day parade.

In September 3, the CPC committee of LZU organized a symposium to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Victory of War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on the theme “To Memorize the History and Revolutionary Martyrs and Emphasize High Moral Values and People Cultivation to Fulfill the Chinese Dream” at the Scientific center.

At the symposium, Fan Zhenrong and Su Shuran, on behalf of veteran soldiers, talked about their war experiences and their feelings about the V-day commemoration. The two veterans urged young people not to forget the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, to inherit the revolutionary heritage, to cherish the hard-won happiness and to feel grateful to our motherland and the party. Su affectionately sang the song "Defend the Yellow River". Eight student and teacher representatives attended the symposium.
