ARWU 2015: LZU ranks top 14-27 among Chinese universities

The 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) released on August 15 2015 lists the top 500 research universities in the world. Data in http://www.shanghairanking.cn show that a total of 32 universities in Chinese mainland in the list, and LZU ranks Top 14-27 among Chinese Universities and Top 301-400 globally.

Based on information of colleges and universities, the ranking of LZU has showed continuous upward trend in the list of academic performance globally since 2013.

In ARWU-SUBJECT, LZU ranks first in Mathematics among Chinese Universities and 37th globally, enjoying relatively fast growth since 2012.  The ranking of LZU in Chemistry stabilizes at the global 101-150 in 2015.

In ARWU-Field, LZU ranks top 101-150 in the world in Science, increasing greatly compared with 2014.

The 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) is released by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Starting from 2003, ARWU has been presenting the world Top 500 universities annually based on transparent methodology and third-party data. It has been recognized as the precursor of global university rankings and the most trustworthy one. ARWU uses six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of highly cited researchers selected by Thomson Reuters, number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance of a university. More than 1200 universities are actually ranked by ARWU every year and the best 500 are published.
