Academician Ren Jizhou is the pioneer in opening the courses of History of Farming Systems and Agricultural Ethics in China in 2014. He invited several famous experts in the area to co-teach the courses, which later achieved great fruits and influence. In November 2015, Academician Ren Jizhou delivered opening remarks for the two courses.
During the courses of History of the Farming Systems, academician Ren Jizhou started by introducing the life in university and historical positioning of life as a highlight to the importance of history and the significance of agricultural history. He then illustrated the agro-ecosystems and briefly introduced the historical stages of the Chinese agricultural system and their features. At last, he clarified the historical positioning and prospect of the grassland agriculture and indicated the professional prospect.
During the courses of Agricultural Ethics, he introduced the definition and major structures of agricultural ethics, stage of development of China’s agricultural ethics, the four-dimensional structure of agricultural ethics and so on. He also shared his own academic insights such issues as the construction of agricultural ethics under new circumstances, solution for the urban-rural dual structure and so on.
