2016 Students Sports Meeting of Lanzhou University took place in Yuzhong Campus, Lanzhou University on May 12th.
In the opening ceremony, entered the field in order were the national flag guard convoy, the colorful banner formation of the national defense students, and the square teams of judges, athletes from every department and the university media under the forceful music of Athletes March. Meanwhile , each team represented their own characteristics. For example, the Art Academy unfolded the ancient Silk Road view by reemerging the diplomatic groupled by Zhang Qian(pioneer of the Silk Road), dancing girls in ancient Northwest China and a lifelike man-made camel. A Chinese Dragon, which means the students would flying high in the sky like dragons, was made by big Chinese Provincial Maps by the College of Earth Environmental Sciences. The College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering changed their formation into the number “70”and “30”, which representsed the 70th anniversary of the foundation of this school and the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the key laboratory respectively. Other departments also showed their own characteristics, for example, the overall and safety helmets of the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, the chemical protective clothing of the School of Nuclear Science and technology, and the white gown of the First Clinical Medical College.

In this opening ceremony, splendid performances were presented by students，including a student who has won the fourth in the National Good Voice 2016 with singing a song. And there were other performances as well, such as roller skating, bicycle, martial arts, line dance, soccer, STEP, cheer-leading, and colorful banner by the national defense students, which forms a fabulous visual feast.
