Pres. Wang attends 2016 Sino-Japan university forum

President Wang Cheng of Lanzhou University was invited to attend the “2016 Sino-Japan University Forum” held in the Academic Hall of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in Beijing on May 6th.

Jointly held by University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the forum was presented by presidents of 12 universities at home, including Lanzhou University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, University of Science and Technology of China, presidents of 12 universities of Japan, including University of Tokyo University, Kyoto University , Tohoku University, Tokyo University of Science, Ochanomizu University, Kyushu University, Osaka University, Waseda University, Nagoya University, Hokkaido University, National Graduate Institute for PolicyStudies and Nagoya Institute of Technology, and nearly 400 scholars and experts. The Forum focused on the theme “Integrating Science and Technology, Achieving Coordinated Development and Facilitating the Development of World-Class University” in discussion.

The Vice-President Wu Yueliang of CAS and the Vice-director-general of Japan Science and Technology Agency co-hosted the opening ceremony of the forum.

In his speech “Attaching Equal Importance to Teaching and Scientific Studies, Promoting the Construction of Top-Notch Universities” delivered at the conference, President Wang introduced the efforts that LZU has made to explore the effective integration and coordinated development between teaching and scientific research, and elaborated his views on the way to realize it.

During the forum, President Wang met with Susumu Satomi, President of Tohoku University, Chiharu Kubo, President of Kyushu University, Shojiro Nishio, President of Osaku University, K. Yamaguchi, President of Hokkaido University, and Akira Fujishima, President of Tokyo University of Science respectively. They have reached cooperation intentions on declaration of Sakura Science and Technology Program, intra-universities cooperation and high-level visits.
