During August 8 to 21, Kazakhstan native Chinese teachers training class (2016), supported by the China National Office for teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (NOCFL) and Confucius Institute and undertaken by School of International Cultural Studies , opened in Lanzhou University. Total 14 native Chinese teachers from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Eurasian University and Alma-ata high school took part in the half-a-month training class.
According to the current situation and training demands of Kazakhstan native Chinese teachers, School of International cultural Studies formulated training goals after deliberation, set and arranged various teaching topics and training courses elaborately. Besides, some excellent teachers long engaged in front-line teaching practice and abundant in overseas teaching experience were organized to explore and discuss theories in vocabulary , pronunciation, Chinese characters and teaching methods by means of theoretical study, analysis and discussion, case study and teaching practice, which laid emphasis on helping native teachers to master the key and difficult points in teaching Chinese , gain a good command of teaching skills and thus promote the whole teaching levels. In addition, cultural visits were planned to Gansu Provincial Museum, folklore museum, Yellow River Custom Tourist Line and pottery workshop for teachers in training to help them have a better knowledge of Lanzhou as well as history, culture and folk customs in Northwest China in shorter time.
The involved teachers learned a lot from these activities which not only strengthened their specialized theoretical knowledge, and gained new thesis and perspectives in the research of Chinese teaching for the foreigners, but also made it possible for them to absorb experience, broaden horizons and improve teaching skills through sufficient communication and interaction. They frequently expressed their sincere thanks for having the training chance to enjoy the support and comprehensive services provided by NOCFL and LZU. Moreover, they hoped that they would have more chances to participate in the professional training in China so as to improve the native Chinese-teaching quality constantly.
It is learned that , since establishment, School of International Cultural Studies has played an essential role in promoting the overall Chinese-teaching level and the quality of students majoring in Chinese by undertaking native Chinese teachers training class for Central Asian countries for years.
