The sixth sessions of student exchange program in Lanzhou University (LZU)and The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) have been successfully held in Gansu and HongKong from 2010 to 2015. To promote exchanges and friendship between the two schools, they work together again in this year, and carry out social and cultural expedition themed as “the Silk Road and the modern civilization” in northwest China and Hongkong to respond “The Belt and Road”policy.
This study is divided into Gansu section and Hongkong section. A group of more than thirty people took a journey along the silk road on 19th, July. Students from Gansu and Hongkong have travelled through Lanzhou, Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye, Jiuquan, Qinghai, and paid a visit to the natural scenery, and the cultural landscape, such as the Mogao Grottoes, the Mingsha Mountain, the Jiayuguan Tower,the Camel City in Gaotai County, Giant Buddha Temple in Zhangye city and Kumbum Monastery and other places.
Along the way, starting from the study of their sub-projects, students from LZU and CUHK were divided into groups to investigate the food, culture, religion, literature, and the ruins of ancient buildings ,and they reported their project discussion results on 26th, July, which formed the preliminary results of the study.
Rain of Flowers Along the Silk Road was converged in HongKong on 1st, August. Under the guidance of students from HongKong, they opened up an unforgettable journey. In the investigation[expedition] of HongKong section, they mainly toured the local religious and cultural places: such as the Che Kung Temple, Column Saint palace, Sik Sik Yuen, Chi Lin Nunnery, Huang Daxian temple, and HongKong Museum of History and Culture. During this period, the students deeply experienced the harmonious coexistence of different religion and culture in HongKong,and the prosperous development of plural ideas in HongKong.
The twenty-day exchange program is completely successful. Students have experienced the Silk Road and the modern civilization and at the same time,promoted their exchanges and developed a deeper friendship.
