LZU determines “Two World-Class” construction programs

On August 16th, LZU president Wang Cheng hosted the academic committee conference and LZU CPC standing committee to determine LZU “Two World-Class” construction programs.

President Wang pointed out that the special fund issued by Ministry of Education for characteristic development requested the inclining to high-level and characteristic disciplines. According to the situation of LZU, this year LZU “Two World-Class” construction programs should insist on “Big money for big events”, “Concentrate limited resources to do big things” and “highlight the advantages and characteristics of disciplines”, setting up the public developing platform and arranging the construction fund reasonably. The fund would be utilized for the construction of talent team and disciplines: the former one divides into high-level talent allowance and team-building expenditure while the latter one is mainly for the purchase of equipment. As for the disciplines not covered by the fund, LZU would support them by other means. The purchase of equipment emphasized the factors such as sharing capacity, grade, output, showing degree, specially-assigned management and operation place, striving for the creation of school-level public platform.

Concentrating on LZU “Two World-Class” construction programs, Academy committee discussed and ensured six construction contents which included observation station (practice base), DC (data base), think tanks related to Silk Road Economic Belt, ecological environment and homeland security, material and medical basic research, and the mechanism and prevention of diseases with high incidence in northwest China. The committee also requested the schools to complete materials and declare world-class discipline construction projects. According to the research of academic[academy] committee and standing committee, there[regardless of talent team building, there would…] would be seven projects such as “Field science observation and research network platform in northwest cold and arid regions” in the discipline construction, which would be listed on 2016 LZU “Two World-Class” construction programs.
