At the invitation of Gansu Province, Luzkin Andrey Vyacheslavovich, Vice President of State of Penzenskaya Oblast, Russia, and Mrs. Olga Mescheryakova, responsible person of international affairs office from Penza State University attended the Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair, and visited LZU on July, 8th. President Wang Cheng met with them at the VIP room of Student Activity Center in the afternoon.
President Wang introduced the basics and preponderant subjects of LZU at the meeting. He pointed out that Russia had fine educational basis and scientific research traditions and that LZU hoped to strength connection between LZU and universities in Penza state. President Wang also expressed wishes to enhance the construction of Russian major in School of Foreign Languages and Literatures of LZU against the background of the Belt and Road Initiative and the building of Double First-Rate. He added that college teachers would be welcomed to teach Russian language at LZU, which would also be an opportunity for both sides to embark on all-round cooperation in education feild.
Vice President Andrey said he was honored to be invited to visit LZU. He pointed out that President Putin was much supportive of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by Chinese government, so did Penza state government. He then added that the Belt and Road Initiative would exert important economic, cultural and educational significance to countries along the Silk Road; that Penza State government was expecting education cooperation between Penza State University, Penza Agriculture University and other institutions of higher learning in the state and LZU under the framework of the Belt and Road. He agreed to the proposal that the two parties should start cooperation from Russian teaching and researching, and gradually expend and deepen cooperation to become multilevel and cross-disciplinary. After the meeting, Vice President Andrey invited President Wang to visit Penza State in the future.
Mrs. Olga put forward cooperation suggestions for Penza State University and LZU in areas of scientific research, teachers’ visits, student exchanges, etc., and emphasized on the scientific cooperation program under the framework of BRICKS, which she invited LZU to jointly apply for.
