Wangzhen, the researcher from School of Pharmacy, led six undergraduates and four graduate students to take part in the one-week-long “Japan- Asian Youth Exchange Program in Science and Technology ” (referred to “Cherry Blossom of Science and Technology Plan”) in University of Tokyo from August 21 to 27. During this time, they visited College of Pharmacy, University of Tokyo, College of Pharmacy, Sshizuoka University, RIKEN (RIkagaku KENkyusho/Institute of Physical and Chemical Research), Kazusa DNA Res. Inst., and future science museum (Miraikan).
Teachers and students from School of Pharmacy paid a visit to the campus of the University of Tokyo and professor Kanai’s lab. Several associate professors at the laboratory respectively introduced research focuses and frontier of science and technology in the asymmetric catalysis and Alzheimer’s disease, and their researches in this field. All of these greatly aroused the students’ study enthusiasm and their scientific research interests.
Professor Hamashima, Prof. Manabe, Prof. Watanabe and Prof. Kan made pharmacy project reports for the visiting team in College of Pharmacy, Shizuoka University. Prof. Hamashima also held a farewell party for team members, and the participants exchanged their ideas on issues of academic and bilateral culture , etc.
Students were deeply impressed by equipment in RIKEN (RIkagaku KENkyusho/Institute of Physical and Chemical Research). Prof. Hou ZhaoMin was invited to the “forum” (He is the first foreign scientist who gets full professor at RIKEN, and has exerted great influence in the field of rare earth metals research), and shared his overseas experience and the scientific research career with the students to resolve their confusion in learning and scientific research.
