Invited by Prof.Chen Wenwu from School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics of LZU, Pro. Andrew Goudie from the college of geographic and environmental science of Oxford University visited LZU during September 25 to 27 for scholar exchanges and study on scientific cooperation.
Prof. Andrew Goudie made a report on “Desert Weathering” on September 25 at the academic hall in Qilian Hall. During the report, he elaborated on the process, mechanism, and influence factors of salt weathering. Besides, through laboratory simulation and site test, he explained that different salinity and the interaction between water and salt would exert different influence on geomorphic evolution. By rich contents and vivid explanation, the report has aroused great interests among teachers and students. The audience actively raised their questions and held discussions.
On September 26, Prof. Chen invited Prof. Goudie to carry on site investigations on grottoes in Bingling Temple and the site of landslide in Heifangtai, Yongjing. The visit ended with both sides discussing the protection of cultural relics along “the Belt and Road”. The two sides also exchanged their opinions on long-term scientific cooperation and talent exchanges.
